Mission Statement

The purpose of the CASI INSTITUTE is to study all problems arising for the industries which produce Calcium Silicon alloys all over the world and to share information of a non-commercial nature arising within the global Calcium Silicon Industry.

 

The CASI INSTITUTE is empowered in particular to:

 

§        Provide a permanent liaison with International Authorities and Organisations.

§        Develop contacts between its Members and co-ordinate joint studies on international regulatory issues of relevance, by developing joint positions.

§        Submit to the International Authorities and Organisations all reports, dossiers, resolutions and points of view of the Calcium Silicon alloys industries of all countries over the world and, when necessary, to co-operate fully with these Organisations in any helpful way.

§        Ensure direct relations with the International industry Organisations through co-operation, association or partnership agreements.

§        Develop all contacts with the associations and/or research institutes all over the world, that use Calcium Silicon alloys, organise conferences, be involved in scientific publications and, in general, organise, follow or collaborate in all initiatives aimed at promoting Calcium Silicon alloys all over the world.

 

 

The Members and CASI INSTITUTE commit themselves to comply with the competition rules and customs agreements which are in force all over the world.

  • REACH

    2008: The CASI INSTITUTE has been instrumental in the creation in 2008 of a consortium for assisting the Calcium-Silicon industry to comply with the European REACH Regulation.

    REACH is a European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006). It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. The Regualtion entered into force on 1 June 2007 and applies to the entire European Economic Area. It requires companies producing or importing more than 1000 tonnes/year of a substance to register the substance by 30 November 2010 at the latest.
